Alternatives Safe As Houses Residential Recovery Project provides a safe space for those looking to address their substance use and to live a fuller, healthier life.
Our residential service offers three distinct elements:
- Respite and Stability on medication, reducing chaos, stabilising the individual.
- Recovery through Abstinence.
- Sustainability and Reintegration back into the local community utilising our scatter flat provision supported by our “Buddying” system.
We emphasise the importance of linkage back into the community and advocate purposeful and meaningful activity as a core element of ongoing sustainable recovery.
Admission criteria
We have no limit on medication limits, only the proviso that the individual is able to participate in the recovery programme.
The age range is 18+ for everyone.
The project is not suitable for individuals with significant mobility issues as the bedrooms are accessed by a double stairway. We take referrals from all over Scotland.
What model(s) of rehabilitation do you practise?
We practise a bio-psycho-social model using therapeutic interventions, seeking to develop further our therapeutic community approach. We base our model onto underlying principles “feeling safe and feeling valued”, and we encourage and support mutual aid 12 step and recovery community involvement as a key element in sustaining recovery on return to the local community.
Do you have staff members with lived experience on your team?
Yes, over 50% of our staff have lived experience, all of whom have successfully completed their recovery in Safe As Houses and gained employment in our organisation.
What are your considerations around religious beliefs?
All individuals have person-centred care plans, and recognise the positives benefits that can be attributed to a strong belief system.
We explore religious beliefs at the assessment stage and reach agreement on what is practical before an individual is admitted to the house.
What funding models are available?
We charge £850 per week which is made up of direct ADP funding or a combination of Housing Benefit and the Care Component.
Prison to Rehab Pathway funding is also available.
We will also accept private funding.
