Calderglen House opened as a rehab service in November 2021, and is set in a Georgian mansion dating back to the 1780s with 10 acres of own grounds including mature woodland and access to the river for fishing.
The location is 24 ensuite bedroom residential rehabilitation service. We are an abstinence-based service with a multi-modal person-centred approach.
Admission criteria
We are registered to admit all individuals aged from 18 years and older.
There is no maximum upper limit of medications and each referral is assessed for suitability by our management team and our Consultant Psychiatrist.
While we are based in South Lanarkshire, we are open to referrals from anywhere in Scotland.
What model(s) of rehabilitation do you practise?
We are an abstinence-based service with a multi-modal person-centred approach, with a particular emphasis on the 12 Steps.
We operate as a recovery setting offering a multi modal treatment programme which includes therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Twelve Step Facilitation, Person Centred Therapy & Occupational Therapy, and music therapy.
We also offer meaningful activities such as yoga, a personal trainer, animal care, countryside walks, fishing, woodworking and kitchen skills. Our model is based on a 3 to 6-month programme.
Do you have staff members with lived experience on your team?
Yes, the majority of our staff have lived experience of addictions and are in recovery themselves. This includes staff from departments such as management, nursing and support workers.
What are your considerations around religious beliefs and dietary requirements?
Assessment process and forms asks questions around any dietary needs/religious diets and requirements. We will cater for this via alternative meals and adapt the timetable if needed, for example to accommodate prayer times or religious festivals. We have recently had an admission for whom we provided a halal diet.
What funding models are available?
Around 96% of our 75 admissions since November 2021 have been funded from the NHS/Alcohol and Drug Partnership/Prison to Rehab pathway.
Around four admissions were self funders, but of note two of these ultimately had the remainder of their stay funded by their local Alcohol and Drug Partnership. We do not get involved with housing benefits at present and the client does not make a financial contribution to stay at Calderglen.
