The Haven Residential Kilmacolm was set up in 1993 and is dedicated to providing transformative support and rehabilitation for men with drug and alcohol addictions, integrating Christian principles, trauma-informed care, and a person-centred support.
We work with various organisations to support potential residents prior to rehab. Local authority Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (ADP) involvement is key to the preparation and safe transition of individuals from community to rehab. For self-referrals, we will signpost to a list of services that will support these individuals to transition to rehab from the community – links can be found on our website.
As an organisation we fully support and work towards family restoration. We have a specific area in our building that is used for family visits and all our support staff work with families throughout a resident’s stay with us, where permitted.
Admission criteria
- We are a male-only centre and will consider applications from the ages of 18-60 from all over the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
- Medication levels for admissions are 30ml of methadone or 12 mg of buprenorphine in order for an individual to be suitable to start opiate detox. Alcohol detox is also provided and levels will be assessed by our prescribing GP.
- We also have a good relationship with Abbeycare should we require assistance with detox.
What model(s) of rehabilitation do you practise?
We are a Christian-faith based programme in conjunction with appropriate therapeutic inputs within a trauma-informed, Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) framework. We use the Outcome Star tool and work through the journey of recovery with individuals in service.
Do you have staff members with lived experience on your team?
We have 6 full-time staff and 2 part-time staff, with lived experience from management level to support workers.
The level of experience ranges from 16 years clean to our most recent part time staff who are 2 years clean and sober.
What are your considerations around religious beliefs?
The Haven operates around Christian principles; however we welcome any and all religious beliefs, or none.
What funding models are available?
The Haven accepts a range of funding sources, including:
- Enhanced Housing Benefit
- Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) via referral pathway
- Private
- Scotland Excel National Framework
